Air-Line Lubricators and Lubrication-Free Components: Identify the Actual Requirement

Check the selected pneumatic components' lubrication requirements before assuming that an air-line lubricator improves every circuit.

Library dates organize the collection. Actual publication and revision dates are shown separately.

Added air-line lubrication is a component-compatibility choice with an operating history.

Read the actual permitted medium

Festo's operating conditions distinguish lubricated-air operation and the subsequent requirements of the identified drives. Preserve that manufacturer's component-specific basis. Primary reference: Festo lubrication conditions.

List the actual actuators, valves and other components in the proposed air path. For each, record whether added lubrication is required, permitted or excluded, using its applicable instructions. A broad lubrication-free label should not replace the complete identified circuit's medium requirements.

Review a hypothetical accessory addition

Imagine an accessory proposal adds an air-line lubricator without reviewing the component register. One selected item has a documented nonlubricated operating basis; another record does not identify the earlier lubrication history. Keep those questions unresolved rather than accepting the accessory as an automatic maintenance improvement.

Prepare columns for component identity, permitted medium, previous operation, proposed change and supplier response. The worksheet does not prescribe an oil type or invent HM pneumatic component history. It also does not infer product-contact acceptability merely from a component's mechanical compatibility statement.

Preserve operating history through service

Ask how the selected parts and approved maintenance method handle an actual medium change. A condition acceptable for one new component may not describe every previously operated part. Retain the manufacturer's answer and any required system review with the equipment record.

Keep air-quality requirements and lubrication eligibility as separate fields with their own evidence. This guide helps a buyer detect an unreviewed accessory assumption without assigning a universal oil-feed rate, changing an installed lubricator or claiming that added lubricant is beneficial or acceptable for every pneumatic circuit. Include accessories whose medium limitations differ from the actuator.

Customer Questions

Does an added lubricator automatically improve every circuit?

No. Review the actual component requirements.

Can operating history matter to a medium change?

Yes. Preserve the applicable manufacturer conditions.

Does mechanical eligibility settle product-contact air quality?

No. That requirement has separate evidence.
