Foam-control screening needs evidence that an additive can reach and disrupt the relevant gas-liquid boundary.
Define the Interface or Transport Basis
Denkov and colleagues' primary review, section 2.4 explains that interfacial coefficients alone do not establish antifoam activity. An entry barrier can prevent an oil globule from reaching the film surface even when coefficient signs favor the proposed route. Spreading can assist some mechanisms without being necessary for every antifoam action.
Review a Hypothetical Comparison
Imagine two fictional candidate additives with similarly favorable calculated entry tendencies. During an observed film-contact trial, A repeatedly enters the boundary within the 2-second observation window, while B remains separated from it for that window. This gives A evidence for the entry step and leaves B's entry unresolved. It does not prove that A ruptures the film or that B could never act after a longer interval. Bulk mixing compatibility cannot supply the missing boundary observation.
Keep the Evidence with the Decision
Separate the review into dispersal, approach to the film, entry and subsequent film response. Keep time-resolved observations and the foaming liquid composition. Identify whether reported tensions describe interfaces of a relevant age. Compare the claimed mechanism against the steps actually observed instead of turning one positive coefficient into an additive ranking.
No dosage, formulation change or universal winner follows from this screening example. The practical decision is which mechanism has supporting evidence and which step still needs investigation in the actual liquid.

Customer Questions
Does a positive entry coefficient prove fast activity?
No. A barrier can still prevent or delay the entry step.
Must every antifoam spread?
No. The cited review distinguishes mechanisms and does not make spreading a universal prerequisite.
Can a bulk dispersion image replace film observations?
No. It does not show whether a globule reaches, enters or disrupts a foam film.
