A larger screenshot can be easier to read while containing the same acquired observations. Display size belongs beside the original pixel dimensions.
Locate the resizing operation
Image scaling changes the output grid using existing image values. Interpolation supplies values for a different grid; it does not make the lens and sensor acquire a second observation of the object. Keep acquisition and later display processing as separate steps. Primary reference: Basler: image scaling and interpolation.
An inspection review may receive an enlarged software window, a resized export and an original frame. Their visible widths are not interchangeable evidence of optical detail. Ask which item is being compared before interpreting a smoother edge as an improved capture.
Follow an invented enlargement
Suppose a fictional original image contains 800 horizontal samples and is displayed at 1,600 screen pixels. A source feature spanning four original samples may occupy approximately eight display pixels. That larger appearance does not add four independent object samples to the acquisition.
A nearest-neighbour enlargement can reveal the source grid visibly; an interpolated enlargement can soften its appearance. Neither display choice establishes a new measured feature boundary. This example concerns image representation, with no claim about any actual camera's available scaling commands.
Retain the source beside the presentation
Label exported trial images with their original dimensions and any resize factor. Keep the original file available so a reviewer can inspect the sampled values rather than relying on a presentation slide. If a crop was enlarged, include its source coordinates and original size.
Compare competing proposals at their acquisition scales or with a clearly stated common viewing convention. Enlargement may help an operator inspect a record, but a request for genuinely finer observations requires a separate acquisition review. Do not accept an increased on-screen number of pixels as that review's conclusion.
Customer Questions
Does doubling display width double acquired detail?
No. The example still starts from the same original samples.
Why retain the original frame?
It shows the acquisition grid before presentation resizing.
Is interpolation an extra camera observation?
No. It calculates a new representation from existing image values.
