Four-wire sensing can remove source-lead voltage drops from the measured voltage path. The current source still has operating limits that belong in the review.
Understand the two electrical paths
A four-wire resistance measurement uses a current path and a separate high-impedance voltage-sensing path across the element. This avoids measuring the source-lead drop as part of the element voltage. It does not mean that source leads can have unlimited resistance or that the complete temperature result has zero uncertainty.
Check a hypothetical remote installation
Suppose the proposed cable is much longer than the demonstration cable. The review should ask two different questions: are the sense connections made at the intended element terminals, and can the source deliver its specified current through the full source path?
A successful reading at one resistance does not prove adequate compliance over the intended interval. Obtain the exact device limit and its stated definition. Keep the total source-lead resistance, element range and connector arrangement visible in the application record. These are review inputs, not instructions to modify a live circuit.
Preserve the complete measurement chain
Request the device-specific connection drawing and source-lead limit. Verify that the quoted probe actually exposes the required connections and that switching hardware preserves the arrangement. Review calibration, excitation and installation influences separately; the wire count alone does not establish installed accuracy.

Customer Questions
Does four-wire sensing remove every temperature error?
No. It addresses a particular resistance-measurement effect.
Can source leads be arbitrarily long?
No. Check the actual device’s operating limits.
Does a four-wire probe ensure four-wire measurement?
Only if the complete compatible input arrangement preserves that method.
