An internal edge can disappear when a drawing style changes. That does not demonstrate that the underlying feature was removed.
Identify the line's display role
A drawing can use different line representations for visible edges, hidden edges and sketch geometry. Visibility settings determine which of those representations are displayed. The resulting picture is a selected view of the geometry, not a complete inventory of every internal feature. Primary reference: Autodesk: visible, hidden and sketch line representations.
An omitted hidden edge and a deleted feature are different states. Ask whether the drawing hides the line, the relevant component is excluded, or the model geometry actually changed. The line style alone does not settle those questions.
Compare fictional display styles
Imagine one unchanged block containing a blind internal recess. A visible-edges-only view shows its exterior outline; a second view also displays the recess's hidden boundaries. Both can be generated from the same nominal geometry while presenting different information about its interior.
The example makes no claim that every CAD system shows every obscured edge in the same way. It also does not establish the recess depth from a dashed outline alone. Dimensions or an appropriate section are needed for that distinct quantity.
Choose evidence that exposes the required feature
Identify the view style and the actual feature being compared. Where a hidden outline is ambiguous, request a section or another representation that resolves its relation to the external interface. Preserve labels so an interior line is not confused with documentation sketch geometry.
When checking a changed drawing, compare model identity and feature definitions as well as the display options. A cleaner outline may simply omit information, while a crowded view may combine several hidden features. Record what the selected picture establishes before interpreting visual absence as proof that a required cavity or connection no longer exists.
Customer Questions
Does a missing hidden line prove the feature was deleted?
No. Check the display and underlying geometry.
Does a hidden outline alone establish depth?
No. Obtain the relevant dimensional or section evidence.
Can unchanged geometry produce different edge pictures?
Yes. Different display choices can expose different information.
