An impeller’s pumping rate is a local discharge quantity. It is not automatically a tank blending-time certificate.
Define the Process Model
ProQuip defines impeller pumping rate at the impeller and distinguishes it from flow pattern, power and shear. Dividing vessel volume by a stated circulation rate gives a nominal turnover scale. That division does not show that every region follows the same path or that concentration deviations have reached a specified endpoint.
Compare a Hypothetical Case
Assume an invented active volume of 100 L and local impeller discharge of 10 L/s. V/Q gives 10 s as a nominal circulation scale. A tracer criterion might be met after several such scales or remain unmet in an isolated region. Reporting “100% mixed in 10 seconds” would add a conclusion not present in the two input numbers.
Complete the Engineering Review
Write where and how the circulation flow is defined. Distinguish primary impeller discharge from any additional induced circulation. Record the actual blending criterion and the observation locations used to test it. If a supplier offers a turnover figure, ask how it relates to the required process result rather than treating it as that result.
For a processing-tank enquiry, provide the mixing task and selected geometry. The example is not an HM pumping rate. Flow capacity can help explain a design, while an application-specific blending measurement addresses whether that flow achieves the intended concentration outcome.

Customer Questions
Is V/Q a guaranteed blending time?
It is only a stated circulation scale.
Does motor power establish Q directly?
The selected impeller and conditions matter.
Can one strong flow zone establish uniformity?
Other regions need suitable evidence.
