A saturated-steam table needs an absolute-pressure basis. Resolve barg and bara before using its temperature.
Define the Thermal Model
Saturation temperature is tied to pressure for equilibrium water and steam. Spirax Sarco’s steam-state reference labels its tabulated pressure basis. Absolute pressure equals gauge pressure plus the local atmospheric reference. Two records both saying “2 bar” can therefore describe different saturation states.
Compare a Hypothetical Case
Consider an illustrative site reference of 1.0 bara. A utility record of 2.0 barg represents 3.0 bara; a record of 2.0 bara remains 2.0 bara. Their pressure difference is a full bar. Do not turn this example into a steam-temperature value without consulting the correct property table for each absolute pressure.
Complete the Engineering Review
Copy the pressure suffix from the utility specification and identify its location. Record the table’s pressure units and reference alongside any temperature taken from it. If a pressure drop occurs between supply and heater, use the state at the relevant heat-transfer location rather than silently reusing an upstream value.
For a manufacturing-vessel discussion, request the agreed utility state and design conditions. This page concerns saturated-water property lookup, not the calibration of a pressure instrument. A state lookup also cannot identify steam dryness when liquid and vapour coexist.

Customer Questions
Is barg the same as bara?
No. Gauge pressure uses an atmospheric reference.
Does pressure specify dryness?
Not for a saturated two-phase mixture.
Which pressure enters the table?
Match its stated pressure basis.
