A small pressure difference can exist between two high-pressure points. Review the pressure on each side as well as their difference.
Keep two specifications distinct
WIKA’s DPT-20 description lists differential measuring ranges and static-pressure limitations separately. These address different conditions. Selecting a suitable small differential range does not, by itself, establish that the instrument can withstand the pressure simultaneously present at its ports.
Use an invented two-port case
Suppose the high port is at 500 kPa and the low port at 495 kPa under a compatible reference. Their differential is 5 kPa, although both sides are near 500 kPa. A comparison sheet showing only “5 kPa required” conceals the common-pressure requirement.
Review normal and relevant transient cases for the actual arrangement, including any manufacturer limits on one-sided pressure. Do not infer those limits from a differential display scale. The invented pressures demonstrate specification separation; they do not rate a model or installation.
Request a complete application match
Give the supplier the required DP interval, pressure at each port, media and relevant conditions. Retain the exact model’s static, differential and unilateral pressure statements with the offered configuration. Performance effects under line pressure should also be checked where material to the measurement task.

Customer Questions
Does a 5 kPa differential mean both ports are near atmosphere?
No.
Can the differential span establish the static rating?
No. Review the separate specification.
Are one-sided limits automatically the same as balanced limits?
Do not assume that. Check the actual documentation.
