A DP manifold’s valve count is an incomplete description. Identify which paths isolate, equalize or vent the actual measuring arrangement.
Trace the declared functions
WIKA’s IV3/IV5 documentation distinguishes shut-off, equalizing and vent functions. It also describes a gas-metering arrangement whose five-valve distribution differs from another five-valve pattern. This shows why “three valve” or “five valve” alone should not replace the actual function diagram.
Prepare an invented drawing review
Imagine a procurement comparison lists two five-valve manifolds with matching port spacing. Trace each valve on the supplied diagrams and label its declared function. Ask whether the proposed manifold matches the instrument, process connections and approved operating method.
Port spacing only establishes one geometric relationship. Retain pressure/temperature and material information as separate review inputs. Do not generate a commissioning sequence from the number of handles; the exact arrangement and responsible procedure govern that work.
Preserve the approved assembly identity
Attach the manifold part number, revision, port labels and function diagram to the quotation and instrument arrangement. Ask the responsible reviewer to resolve any ambiguous path before accepting equivalence. This educational article supplies no order for operating valves and no authorization to equalize or vent a live process.

Customer Questions
Does five-valve count identify every internal arrangement?
No.
Does matching port spacing establish complete equivalence?
No. Review functions and ratings too.
Does this guide provide a valve operating sequence?
No. Use the approved arrangement-specific procedure.
