Separate gas-mediated heat transfer from contact and radiation when interpreting a pressure change in a freeze dryer.
Define the Material or Thermodynamic Model
A primary heat-transfer investigation identifies pressure-dependent gas heat transfer alongside other heat paths in lyophilization. Pressure is therefore not solely a vapour-removal variable; its change can alter part of the thermal input under the applicable gas regime.
Review a Hypothetical Comparison
For a fictional fixed-temperature-difference account, assign contact heat of 3 W, radiation of 1 W and gas-mediated heat of 2 W at condition A. At condition B only the assigned gas contribution changes to 4 W. Total input changes from 6 to 8 W, a 33.3% increase; it does not double merely because the gas term doubled.
Keep the Evidence with the Decision
List heat paths and the evidence for their pressure dependence. Keep gas composition, gap geometry and pressure regime with the comparison. Distinguish a component trend from a claim about the whole process.
The source’s observed rates and pressure thresholds are not reused. The invented component split is not universal: contact, radiation and gas transport can differ with configuration, and a pressure change can also alter sublimation conditions.
Does the selected pressure state support the assumed gas-mediated heat contribution?

Customer Questions
What is the total at B?
8 W.
Does total heat double here?
No; it increases by one third.
Is the fictional component split transferable?
No; configuration-specific evidence is required.
