Powder Aeration Response: Interpret the Change in Flow Resistance

Retain an airflow-dependent resistance curve when assessing aeration; an unaerated value alone cannot describe the measured response to air.

Retain an airflow-dependent resistance curve when assessing aeration; an unaerated value alone cannot describe the measured response to air.

Identify the Material Response

Freeman compares baseline flow energy with aerated energy and defines their ratio for the stated test. The air velocity and bed condition belong beside that comparison. Primary reference: aeration response and energy ratio.

Review a Hypothetical Comparison

Suppose an invented baseline is 600 mJ and the aerated result at one defined airflow is 150 mJ. The baseline-to-aerated ratio is four. Another powder has 300 and 150 mJ, giving two despite the same final energy. Comparing only 150 mJ would discard their different baseline responses.

Keep the Evidence with the Decision

Plot each result against its stated air velocity and preserve the preparation and movement path. Identify whether the reported ratio uses baseline divided by aerated energy or the reverse. Compare enough of the actual curve to answer the intended process question; a single ratio does not reveal every change in bed behaviour.

Keep this test response separate from a prediction of minimum fluidization velocity, airborne release or machine consumption. The fictional energy values supply no recommended airflow or HM process setting. The accepted review should state what the tested aeration changed and which process evidence connects that observation to the application.

Does the airflow response show a bed-state change relevant to the process?

This blank worksheet is for your own project. It contains no H M machine trial result.

Customer Questions

What is 600/150 in the teaching case?

Four on the stated baseline-to-aerated basis.

Do equal final energies imply equal aeration ratios?

No. Their baselines can differ.

Does the ratio specify a production airflow?

No. Retain the actual application evidence.
