A delayed tracer signal can reflect the route from injection to observation. It does not identify a global mixing time by itself.
Define the Process Model
A tracer enters at a defined location and spreads through the vessel flow. COMSOL’s tracer-mixing model illustrates that its observation point can respond after material has circulated elsewhere. Keep injection position and observation position in the interpretation instead of assigning every delay to uniformly slow blending.
Compare a Hypothetical Case
Imagine an invented test where location A first detects tracer after 2 s and location B after 12 s. Both later approach the same normalized concentration by 40 s. The ten-second difference in first arrival describes differing routes to those observation locations; it does not establish that A represents a completed batch at two seconds.
Complete the Engineering Review
Mark injection and observation points on the same drawing. Record whether the tracer addition changes flow or density appreciably, and align all traces to the same addition-time reference. Compare first arrival, overshoot and final concentration agreement as separate observations. Preserve a changed location when comparing two trials rather than silently treating the tests as identical.
Use the processing-tank context with an agreed tracer plan. No actual HM response time is stated here. The worksheet supports interpretation of a test; selection of tracer, sensors and an acceptable endpoint should match the real product and equipment conditions.

Customer Questions
Does first detection equal full blending?
It only establishes arrival at that point.
Can moving a probe change the result?
It can change the observed transport route.
Does a late point prove low impeller speed?
Geometry and flow paths also require review.
