Separate particle wetting, contact capture and subsequent bond survival when interpreting a wet-granulation mechanism.
Define the Material or Thermodynamic Model
A primary wet-granulation model includes cohesive and viscous effects of binder at particle contacts alongside accretion and erosion. Liquid on a particle does not alone demonstrate that a collision produces a lasting interparticle bridge.
Review a Hypothetical Comparison
In a fictional contact log, 100 encounters occur, 30 form an initial joined pair and 10 of those later separate. The retained-pair count is 20, initial capture is 30% and survival of captured pairs is 20/30 = 66.7%. Reporting only 30% would obscure the distinction between failure to capture and erosion after capture.
Keep the Evidence with the Decision
Define the contact event, initial bridge observation and survival interval. Preserve the denominator for each count. Ask which material/contact evidence supports the proposed mechanism rather than inferring it from added binder volume alone.
The counts are invented and do not reproduce the paper’s simulated growth kinetics. They establish neither an optimal liquid dose nor a granule-strength specification. Geometry, viscosity and contact motion need their own material-specific account.
Does the liquid binder create the proposed interparticle joining condition rather than only wet individual particles?
