The last displayed digit describes a reading increment. It does not summarize every influence on the measured result.
Identify what the increment represents
Display resolution concerns distinguishable changes in indication. A finer increment can help reveal variation, but the result can still be affected by calibration, repeatability, drift and use conditions. Copying the display step into an “uncertainty” field omits that measurement model.
An invented comparison
Instrument A shows 100.0 and instrument B shows 100.00 for a check item. The second display has a finer decimal increment, but this alone does not establish which result has lower uncertainty. Review the actual calibration and measurement process instead of ranking the instruments by digit count.
If repeated readings round to the same display value, that also does not establish zero underlying variation. A coarse increment can conceal changes. These examples are not a specification for an HM weighing system.
Request a result-based statement
Retain the increment with the instrument identity and settings. Obtain uncertainty information for the actual result and task. When comparing data, preserve the recorded digits while identifying the reporting convention; do not create extra precision by adding trailing zeros to source readings.

Customer Questions
Does 0.01 g resolution mean ±0.01 g uncertainty?
No. The complete result requires an applicable uncertainty evaluation.
Do identical displayed readings prove no variation?
No. Rounding can conceal changes.
Can trailing zeros improve the instrument?
No. Formatting does not change measurement performance.
