A display may show a value outside the interval covered by the instrument’s stated measurement conditions. Compare the correct intervals.
Read the interval labels
The measuring interval concerns values that can be measured with specified instrumental uncertainty under defined conditions. The indication interval describes values that the instrument can indicate. A broad display scale therefore should not be used as evidence of equally broad qualified measurement performance.
A hypothetical range review
Suppose a demonstration screen can display from 0 to 200 arbitrary units, while a supplied measurement statement covers 20 to 150 under its listed conditions. A proposed result at 8 lies within the display range but outside that stated measuring interval. The next step is to ask for applicable evidence, not to infer a low-end performance claim.
Keep overload limits, environmental conditions and calibration points separate from these interval labels. This invented example supplies no actual device range and no universal minimum-use percentage.
Match the intended use
List the smallest and largest quantities in the buyer’s real task. Compare them with the applicable measuring interval, uncertainty statement and conditions. Ask the supplier how performance outside the documented interval would be established, or whether a different measuring system is needed.

Customer Questions
Does a visible reading prove it is within the measuring interval?
No. Display capability and stated measurement performance differ.
Is the calibration-point list automatically the full interval?
Review the report’s scope and the relevant performance statement.
Does this guide choose a sensor range?
No. It identifies the evidence needed for the actual task.
