Linear Tunnel Vial Washer: Pocket Indexing and Spray Alignment

Check linear tunnel vial washer pocket fit, indexed movement, penetrating spray alignment and upright discharge with a practical station-by-station review.

A linear tunnel vial washer relies on the relationship between the vial pocket, indexed movement and washing nozzle. Reviewing only the number of water and air stages overlooks the mechanical alignment that makes those stages usable. This guide follows vial loading, pocket indexing, nozzle approach and discharge on the H M Pharma Machines linear platform, with a focus on format-specific questions for engineering and machine trials.

Quick answer

Confirm pocket fit and stable loading first. Then review the inverted vial position, index timing and nozzle entry at each washing station. Keep the ten-position media map separate from the handling drawing, and check upright unloading into the downstream interface.

Distinguish the infeed belt from the pocket carrier

The published platform uses a wire-woven infeed belt and mechanical cams for loading and unloading. HDPE pockets carry the vials through the washing positions. These are different parts of the transport path: seeing a belt at the entrance does not describe how the washing pockets move through the machine.

The selected pocket-carrying linear-chain arrangement indexes between stations. Ask for a handling drawing that identifies loading, inversion, washing positions and unloading. Confirm any turntable, feedworm and track arrangement for the selected configuration rather than inferring it from another machine’s photograph.

Match the pocket to the vial geometry

Pocket selection needs the actual vial body, neck, height and base details. The vial must enter predictably, remain supported when inverted neck-down and leave without binding. Supply samples from the intended container source and identify every format that the line will handle.

Review the contact surfaces and clearances with the supplier. Where several tracks are selected, confirm how each track receives and releases vials. A nominal vial capacity or model output rating does not demonstrate that a particular pocket set will handle a revised container drawing.

Review indexing and nozzle approach together

Part of the cycleQuestion for the reviewRecord to keep
LoadingDoes each vial enter its pocket without tilting or impact?Pocket set and infeed settings
Indexed stopIs the mouth aligned at the intended wash position?Station, track and pocket identification
Nozzle movementIs entry and withdrawal clear of the glass?Specified nozzle travel and timing
UnloadingDoes the vial return upright and transfer cleanly?Cam, prism, pusher and guide setup

The described washing action uses mechanically lifting nozzles entering the mouth or neck region. Confirm actual travel and media pressure for the selected process; penetrating spray does not justify an unspecified high-pressure claim.

Use a position map rather than a generic stage range

The machine has ten configurable internal washing positions. The published reference order is air, RC water, RC water, air, fresh PW, air, fresh PW, air, fresh WFI and final air. The selected process determines the final media assignment; external washing is a separate scope decision.

For each position, show the nozzle, supply circuit and intended action on the same review sheet. This helps distinguish a transport alignment problem from a missing or incorrectly assigned service. Confirm the intended tank, pump and filtration arrangement separately, without treating the number of positions as a cleaning-performance guarantee.

Observe the final air and upright transfer

Following the final air application, the pocket arrangement returns vials upright for unloading. The published outfeed uses mechanical cams, an outfeed prism and a pusher toward the next conveyor interface. Review the receiving equipment with the actual vial format, including guides and the point at which support changes.

A final air stage can help clear residual rinse liquid, but it is not proof that every vial is dry or sterile. If a depyrogenation tunnel forms part of the line, agree its transfer conditions and controls separately. Check how the washer responds when that downstream equipment stops accepting vials.

Make the trial useful for later diagnosis

Name the vial drawing revision, pocket set, track arrangement and station map in the trial record. Observe entry, indexed stops, nozzle movement and unloading at the agreed operating conditions. Record the location of a problem rather than reporting only that the machine ran or did not run.

  • Identify the affected track, pocket or washing position when an issue occurs.
  • Distinguish transport contact from spray misalignment or unavailable utilities.
  • Record adjustments, repeat the relevant observation and retain the final setup.

The result is a usable basis for commissioning and subsequent changeovers. Washing effectiveness, sterilization and depyrogenation remain separate process questions; mechanical alignment evidence should be reported for what it actually demonstrates.

Buyer Questions

Does the entrance belt carry vials through every wash station?

The wire-woven belt is the infeed arrangement. HDPE pockets handle the vials through the linear washing positions, with loading and unloading mechanisms reviewed as separate parts of the transport path.

How many internal washing positions are published?

The linear vial platform publishes ten configurable internal positions. Its reference media sequence is available on the product page, while the final position assignments follow the selected washing process.

Does nozzle entry mean a fixed high-pressure process?

No. Nozzle entry describes the washing geometry. Specify nozzle travel, timing and media conditions for the actual vial and process instead of assigning an unsupported pressure or cleaning result.
